The Submarine Lake Champlain Explorer, was Duane Baker's dream to explore Lake Champlain and with the help of
his two brothers, Elmer and Steve his dream became a historical event here in Vermont.
The Lake Champlain Explorer was built here in Vermont.
The Submarine is in need of restoration, and needs a small structure to protect it from the elements of being outside.
We are asking the people of Vermont and everyone to save the first submarine to enter the waters of Lake Champlain.
The submarine made history here in Vermont at it's main launching at Perkins Pier in Burlington October 19, 1985 for
being Vermont's first submarine in Lake Champlain. The Lake Champlain Explorer visited many areas of the lake for the next
five years. The submarine has been on the Chanel 3 News, the Burlington Free Press and Ripley"s Believe It or Not,
as well as other books and magazines.
In 1990 the submarine was donated to the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, in Vergennes, Vermont, and still resides there.
We would like to keep history alive here in Vermont, and need your donations so that this can be done so all Vermonters and
everyone including our children and yours, will remember, "The Lake Champlain Explorer",  Lake Champlain's First Submarine.
By making a donation of one hundred dollars or more your name will be engraved on a plaque and mounted on the building housing
the submarine. Everyone who visits the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum will see and read your name on the plaque and you
will be remembered. You will feel special because you contributed to saving a part of history. A Nonprofit Oganization.
